This Christmas was our first that we didn’t spend at one of our family’s places. This was bittersweet in that we knew we would really miss our families but we also knew that it would be a special time for the two of us. We also knew that we would need to have some fun events planned or else it would feel like any other sort of day. There were a lot of New College students who weren’t returning to their home countries, so we threw a brunch! Every Christmas morning of my life, my mom has made my grandmother’s coffee cake and we’ve had a fun family brunch, so I thought for our first Edinburgh Christmas, we would carry on that tradition. Joined by twelve of our friends we celebrated this happiest of holidays and together remembered and celebrated Christ’s birth.
This Christmas was very special and as I went through the weeks leading up to it and enjoying the Christmas carols we had almost constantly playing my mind kept returning to the following verses:
Truly He taught us to love one another;
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother;
And in His name all oppression shall cease.
Thanks to Rachel for providing some of these pics!

Looks like a lovely Christmas brunch with the friends. Wish we were there! Miss you all.
Wish you could have been here too!
What a glorious gift you were able to share with the students and friends in celebrating the birth of Jesus!
Would have loved to gather around your table — everything looks terrific! Love ya! Happy New Year to you both!
