While our time in Paris had been wonderful and I will always love that city, we were ready to head back to Edinburgh for a few weeks. We needed to reconnect with old friends, some of whom were flying in from the US and elsewhere. This visit marked the end of our time in Europe (for now!), and saw the completion of our reason for being over here in the first place: Scotty was graduating!
I cannot tell you how good it was to soak up time with the people who we shared this experience with. There’s something about going through this together that bonds people together. We’ve survived, and thrived, in another culture, we’ve been pushed out of our comfort zones, we’ve discovered aspects of our personalities we never knew existed. And it’s good to be with the people who saw that happen to you and know what its like to have it happen to them.
Scotty’s parents also made the trip to see their son become a doctor – I don’t know who was prouder, his mom or me! Anyway, it was a very special day. Here’s some of the pics I snapped.

Congratulations Scotty!!! You have reason to be proud.
Love this! What a happy day. I like how in the picture of Scotty and Sara, the camera was really focused perfectly on Josh and his parents…nice. He’s made it to the big time now on Becca’s blog!
Wow, what an accomplishment Scotty!! Your parents must be so happy for you, they were beaming in these pics!! What an honor to graduate from such and amazing university, we should all be so lucky! Congratulations to you and Becca!!
Hugs,
Mel
PS, what does the “bop on the head” mean in the ceremony??
I love the one with Scotty hugging his mom! Aww!! SO PROUD of you, Scotty!
Congrats!!! What a special event!!! Hard work pays off!!!

Such a glorious day, and I feel so delighted to have been able to watch Scotty get bopped virtually! Still tickled over Dr. Manor’s accomplishment. So proud of you both!
Congrats, Dr! Loved the pix and the write up…Wow. What an accomplishment, for you both! You were willing to do whatever was needed for him to attain this goal, Becca! Congrats to you too!
A big day that was. Wow! Nice work Scotty. We are thankful for you. The ‘salute’ to Mr. Knox was prophetic! Like saying “see you in Florida, sir.”
Congratulations to Becca, Beth, and Tim for your wonderful support and encouragement too!
This 5-year incredible journey has provided so many fascinating experiences and memories for us all.
Bec, you did a great job capturing the moments that I’m so glad i get to see…
I most love the look on his face where you say he’s ‘beaming’
Thank you for your support these long years, which has enabled him to finish so quick and strong…behind every great man… !!!
Enjoyed the pix so much — am so proud and thankful for Scotty and his accomplishments.
Congrats to you both — you make a great team! Love you, Aunt Cori
Loved this post! Congratulations to all of you (Parents included here!). I love the photo with John Knox. Why don’t you encourage Dr. Manor to send that one to Laura Deery and update his alumni profile. It would be so inspiring for so many other students! Take care!
