Last week I was walking back home from school and I decided to take my time and play tourist on this route that is so familiar it’s easy to just walk through it without consciously taking the time to appreciate how spectacular it really is – especially on a sunny, warm afternoon. Edinburgh is a really amazing city – it’s a city of extremes. In the middle of December or January or February it can feel like the dreariest, most god-forsaken place on earth. But a few months later it turns into this vibrant, spectacularly beautiful and beguiling place. The change could not be more marked. So, last week I decided to savor the incredible beauty that I encounter every day I go up to school. I think the long, hard winters make me appreciate the sunshine so much more along with the fact that my allergies are under control for the first time in 20 years and that changes everything. Absolutely everything.
The flower pictures are especially for my dear friend Bethy who said I should go out and document the flowers around Edinburgh! Thanks for the encouragement to do that! I hope everyone has a happy Monday!
