World map of daily flights

The following shows a time lapse of large-carrier flights around the world on any given day.  It’s fascinating and was shared with us by our friend Derek.  I think my dad and Uncle Chris will find it especially interesting!

About Rebecca

Hi! After five years in Europe, I'm adjusting to life back in the US. I use this blog to record my adventures, post photos, organize recipes, and post about things that interest me.

To say the least. Europe still looks like Grand Central Station are far as world traffic is concerned. Must be all the tourists coming and going in France!

You’re right, Rebecca, that is really cool.
Russ, check out the “yellow” stream of dots over the N. Atlantic from America to Europe during the night…the “redeye” flights.
And then the reverse during the day. Just like
the tide going back and forth. It really is amazing how safe it is to fly. Just in the US
alone, there are over 30,000 commercial flights a day. I’m sure Captain Severson could tell us about some “traffic jams” in the sky. Thanks for sending it.
