The lake

Scotty and I arrived at the lake yesterday where we’re going to be spending a week with his family.  It was a surprise birthday trip in honor of his 30th!  A bit early – birthday not until July – it hit at a moment when we were both itching for a change of scenery.  We arrived late Wednesday and spent yesterday getting caught up with family and on sleep.  Thanks to jet lag I’m the first person up this morning and I love the quiet.

Early fishermen before the mists have burned off.

I love early mornings – no one else is around, it’s quiet.  Plus there are sights that melt away as the sun rises and only the early risers get a chance to see a world apart from the hustle and bustle that comes later.

Droplets left behind by the mist.

I also caught a sweet little family of geese making its way down the little creek to the lake.

And a little while later it seemed that the entire goose population of the lake was getting together for a playgroup date.

All sorts of families were joining up!

Off they go!

Love the sparkling of the sun on the water.

Over the next week I’m hoping for several early mornings – mornings where I can enjoy the quiet and get breakfast cooking before anyone else is up.  Right now my banana nut muffins are about to be done and people are stirring!

Looks idyllic. Hope you’re getting some rest and refreshment–don’t do ALL the cooking, as I know that will be your bent! Then you’ll return exhausted. (Hmmm . . . look who’s talking! ) Greg, Faye and four arriving today for the weekend. Crazy fun. Love you.
