Scotty and I spent our first New Year’s Eve abroad with friends, telling stories, playing games, eating some delicious food, and watching the fireworks. It was the perfect way to say goodbye to what has been a wonderful year and look forward with anticipation to the one ahead. Of course, being in Scotland, we were treated to several renditions of Auld Lang Syne – so it was perfect when my dad sent me the following Noonan editorial and it’s definitely worth a read.
Our New Year’s plans came together sort of at the last-minute and involved our friends coming over to our place for a Mexican feast. Katy and Jeremy provided some amazing barbecue and taught us how to make homemade corn tortillas!
The tortillas were rustic and absolutely delicious! Everyone contributed to the meal and it was fantastic – we don’t get a lot of authentic Mexican over here so this was definitely a treat. After hanging out, talking, sharing stories, and playing a great game, we made our way to Princes Street to join 80,000 other people and watch the fireworks.
The fireworks were great and Edinburgh was packed with people from all over the world. In the store this week I had customers from Germany, Italy, Austria, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, the States, and a whole bunch of other countries all here specifically for this night. Apparently Edinburgh is one of the places to be on New Year’s!
