Lost Items #8

We are in the midst of packing, sorting, purging. Our stuff is in boxes and bags. Things are going in all sorts different directions – charity shops, Paris, the States, the bin, to new homes with our friends. Everything is a bit disjointed but we’re out of our wonderful flat in less than two weeks! How did that happen?

In addition to that, we’re saying lots of goodbyes. Scheduled departures of friends has meant that we feel like we’re saying goodbye all the time. It was so refreshing to welcome some friends back on Friday and have a little cookout. The weather even cooperated and we were able to dine al fresco. I cannot tell you how nice it was to actually have a get-together that didn’t involve goodbyes.

In honor of all this wonderful and chaotic disruption, I’m adding an entry to my Lost Items series. And this is a random collection. I can’t wait to start this series in Paris – what sorts of things will be left behind on those lovely wide Haussmann boulevards and winding Latin Quarter lanes?

Lost Tom spotted in London

Child's sweatshirt in Princes Street Gardens

Discarded scarf seen in Princes Street Gardens - finally a warm day!

Someone left behind their glass...

This sock almost blends in with the street lines.

A comb.

Fancy furry glove that's obviously been lost for a while.

A purple thermos.

A baby blanket on Queensferry Street.

And my favorite: a sweet little baby's shoe stuck on the fence by New College

Which leaves the question, which “lost” item will you be leaving behind as you depart Edinburgh?
