A walk down the Champs

This past Saturday night, Scotty and I were sitting at home when we decided to be “French” and go out at 10PM. We hadn’t yet seen the Christmas light installation on the Champs Elysees and it was about to be taken down, so we hopped on the metro and got off at the stop nearest L’Arc de Triumph. The Champs Elysees was buzzing with activity, there were people walking around, sitting in restaurants, buying things at the stores. It was invigorating to be out on a mild January evening taking in the sights. The light installation was very interesting. In the trees lining the street there were these large rings pegged with LED lights that changed from white to blue to red. While the individual  elements weren’t all that impressive, the sum total of hundreds of these rings was pretty stunning. Below you’ll find a slideshow of our pictures. Hope you enjoy!

So nice to see all these pictures of Paris. Not sure if I will ever get a chance to visit. I’ve enjoyed all your entries. My daughter lives in Scotland and at the end of March, me and my wife, for the first time, will make a trip to your previous home, Edinburgh, to meet our daughter and her UK husband. We will all probably take a train to London and eventually return with them to their home in Ullapool, Scotland.

Becca, I love these pics of the Christmas lights in Paris at night! You did such a good job with your camera and made all of those familiar sights come alive. Just wish we were there to share it with you, but it won’t be long. I’d like to try some night time photography in Paris as well. I love those relaxed evening dinners that go to 10:00 p.m. It would be fun to go out and take some late night pictures after dinner. What do you think?
