Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I am an American expat who just spent four years living in Scotland and writing about my experience. I am now living in Paris and looking forward to getting to know this lovely city better. I like to use this blog as a sort of journal to record my thought and memories. I also post recipes here because I’ve found the discipline of actually writing down the things I make up is very good for me! Feel free to contact me at rebecca(.)manor(@)gmail(.)com. Just eliminate the parenthesis – I have to put those in there to help block spammers!

Stumbled across your blog, thought I would say hello. My friend is the policewoman on the left horse on your blog, her name is Nikki. I gew up on the road near to the police HQ where they keep the horses so always thought it was normal to see them around town ! Check out my blog for things to do around Edinburgh that you may have not discovered yet. Enjoy Auld Reekie, Alison
Hey Becca,
Talene Bilazarian here. Happy Easter! We are sitting round talking with your parents here in Andover. We are very interested in St. Andrews University and we were wondering about your initial transition into the country. Could you send me the link to your first blog? We’d love to hear about your initial thoughts. But we have plenty of foodies here who will check this one regularly. We hope that when we visit St. Andrew’s we can visit you in Edinborough!
happy easter and enjoy today.

Rebecca,
Tal fwded your email and blog. Now that I have your blog, I am cancelling my subscription to Martha Stewart Living. What a wonderful chronicle of your life and passions. The photos are just beautiful and us Bilazarian foodies are going to be all over your recipes. We will now be able to keep closer in touch. Tal & I are headed off tomorrow to NC and Virginia to tour some campuses so I will have more time then. For now, let me just say that your parents surprising me at my 50th party was the most cherished gift of the night. She told all the guests of her concierge level shopping experience to find her mother of the bride dress for your wedding. Me double parked on newbury St while she ran in and out of shops and I in my suburban w/ the flashers blinking! I have such fond memories of all the Bergs! Oh and if you get a second, i am in need of any contact info you have of your wedding photographer. My niece is getting married and your photographer was the best!
much love to you and Scotty, Melanie

Hi-
I’m the editor of Expat Arrivals.com (http://www.expatarrivals.com), a site devoted to developing comprehensive destination guides aimed at easing expat transitions abroad. Currently we’re working on creating an Edinburgh city guide, but we need expats like yourself to share their unique insight in order to make the information as accurate as possible.
Would you be interested in contributing in exchange for a promotional profile where you could levy exposure for yourself, your blog or your business.
I look forward to hearing from you and hope we can work together in the future. Thanks for your time and consideration.
Best-
Stephanie

I’m looking for a blog on Paris to follow often. My sister and I plan on visiting for the first time next year. Having just caught this posting for my first one of yours, I’m curious what you share about Paris. Do you cover any meanderings you may make in and about the several arrondisements, as well as pictures? And, can you share language and phrase insights?
Thank you for your time; you sound as if you’re enjoying the City of Light very much.
I have only read a few of your posts thus far but I already feel like I know you…I have always wanted to visit Paris but it has not been in the cards. I think I will be experiencing Paris vicariously thruough…Paris at my doorstep!!! Yes and thanks for the follow, nolagirlatheart.
Hey, I’m passing on the 7×7 link award to you – a dubious honour as it comes with quite a set of rules, but I like your blog and wanted to share it with others. I still think it’s amazing how much we appear to have in common, both little and big. You can see what I wrote about your blog here:

Hello Rebecca. I am excited to follow your blog and I of course appreciate you linking my post on Mont Saint Michel. I too have been an expat to the Europe, but on shorter stays until now. Hopefully things will go smoothly when I move (back) to Amiens and then eventually Paris. All my luck, and keep up the great posts!
